Rancho Verde returned to the win column with a 21–3 victory over Moreno Valley on September 25. The Mustangs improved to 2–3, combining 217 rushing yards with a defense that held the Vikings to a field goal.
Khristian Windom Castle rushed for 60 yards. Kingston Morgan added 58 yards and a touchdown, while DeQuavion Moore contributed 51 yards and a score. The spread of carries and production gave the ground game several useful contributors behind the offensive line.
The defensive performance was the other major part of the result. Ziyar Walker-Jones recorded seven tackles, Uriah Celestine made six, and Bryce Simms added five, including one for loss. The unit limited Moreno Valley to 125 reported offensive yards.
Isaiah Gilliam and Isaiah Davis each recorded an interception as part of a three-interception team total. Those takeaways added to a performance that kept the Vikings from reaching the end zone.
After three consecutive losses, the Mustangs had a concrete response to recognize. The victory did not depend on a huge passing total or one runner carrying the entire offense. It came with shared rushing production and a defense making tackles, creating turnovers and keeping the opponent’s score low. That combination gave Rancho Verde a useful foundation for the second half of its schedule.
