STILL SWINGING: Canyon Springs Turns the Page and Charges Toward West Valley

MORENO VALLEY — Canyon Springs took a hit at Westminster, but the Cougars are not backing away from anybody.

Friday’s 21–12 loss dropped Canyon Springs to 2–2, creating the kind of early-season crossroads that reveals a team’s character. The Cougars now have a quick turnaround and a home date with West Valley on Thursday, September 17. There is no time to feel sorry for themselves—and this roster has already shown it knows how to answer.

One week before the Westminster loss, Canyon Springs beat Patriot 25–21 in a game that displayed the offense’s full potential. The Cougars produced 398 total yards, balancing 190 through the air with 208 on the ground. That was not a one-dimensional win. It was a complete offensive performance built on pressure from every direction.

Senior quarterback Angel Robles has generated 584 total yards this season and has accounted for two touchdowns. Senior receiver Aaron Triplett leads the team at 55.7 receiving yards per game. Senior running back Jaxon Taylor is producing 59 rushing yards per game. Together, they give Canyon Springs the pieces to attack space, stay balanced and force defenses to defend the entire field.

The defense has its own leaders. Junior linebacker Isaiah Cano averages eight tackles per game. Senior Joseph Turner has recorded a sack, while Aries Eden and Donte Todd have each produced an interception. Todd’s playmaking has already been part of the Cougars’ biggest early moments.

At 2–2, Canyon Springs is not where it wants to finish. It is exactly where a resilient team can begin its next chapter.

The Cougars have already beaten St. Anthony and Patriot. They have already experienced a tough loss to Fallbrook and now another at Westminster. That mix matters. Young seasons are not supposed to answer every question immediately. They are supposed to expose what must improve before league games decide everything.

Thursday night against West Valley is a chance to set the tone again: start fast, play clean, protect the football and let the Cougars’ athletes attack.

Canyon Springs is still swinging. The next punch comes at home.
