EAGLE PRIDE DOESN’T FLINCH: Bobby Greer and Joey Ward Keep Valley View Fighting
Moreno Valley 31, Valley View 21 | October 9, 2026 | Updated October 14
MORENO VALLEY — Valley View left Friday with a loss, but its players still earned their names in the story. The Eagles fell 31–21 to Moreno Valley, moving to 5–2 overall and 1–1 in the Sunbelt League. Bobby Greer kept producing, Joey Ward led a determined defensive effort, and the next league opportunity arrives quickly.
BOBBY’S PRODUCTION STILL SETS THE STANDARD
Greer ran 14 times for 62 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught a 63-yard pass, giving him 125 yards from scrimmage. Moreno Valley kept the rushing total below his season average, yet Greer still supplied two of Valley View’s three touchdowns and its longest receiving gain.
His season line remains substantial: 1,076 rushing yards on 115 carries, 13 rushing touchdowns, eight receptions for 148 yards and two receiving touchdowns. That is 15 total touchdowns and 1,224 yards from scrimmage through seven reported games. The production makes him central to this team’s identity and to its response after a difficult night.
Quarterback Robert Dunlap Jr. completed 11 of 29 passes for 181 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. Kaden Cooper caught four passes for 65 yards and the receiving score. Jordan Duarte added two catches for 14 yards; Kevins Favors had two for eight. Kaijon Mathis gained 17 yards on his reception, and Dominic DuBois added 14 on his.
WARD AND THE DEFENSE KEPT WORKING
Ward finished with eight tackles, one tackle for loss and a sack. Jason Viramontes added seven tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. Sepha Leavasa recorded five tackles, all solo, with two tackles for loss. Jayden Neal contributed four tackles, half a tackle for loss and a sack, giving the Eagles two sacks in the game.
Zion Ashburn-wilson supplied an interception. Matthew Gentry recorded three tackles and a pass defended. The posted team totals credit Valley View with 49 tackles and five tackles for loss. Those performances matter even when the final score goes the other way.
THE NEXT RESPONSE
Valley View travels to Perris on Thursday, October 15, with kickoff currently listed for 7 p.m. The Eagles still have a winning record, a productive running back and receiving options capable of stretching the field. Dunlap’s latest season totals show 1,223 passing yards and 16 passing touchdowns; DuBois has seven receiving touchdowns.
Cooper leads the team’s posted receiving-yards-per-game category at 111.0, but that figure covers two reported games. Greer’s 153.7 rushing yards per game covers seven. Those differing sample sizes are part of the story and remain visible in the statistics.
REPORTING NOTE: All figures above are from the posted game and season reports checked October 14. Player games played vary by category and report; no missing stat has been treated as a recorded zero.
