MORENO VALLEY — Coach Ben Benitez’s Vikings put a needed win on the board and a strong performance behind it. Moreno Valley defeated Valley View 31–21 on the road, improving to 4–3 overall and 1–1 in Sunbelt League play. Against an Eagles team with real offensive firepower, the Vikings found enough scoring and enough stops to finish the job.

The teams were tied 7–7 after the first quarter. Moreno Valley added 10 unanswered points in the second, then matched Valley View’s 14-point third quarter. Neither team scored in the fourth. The Vikings’ 17–7 halftime edge held up as the foundation for a ten-point victory.

TWO QUARTERBACKS, ONE PRODUCTIVE PASSING NIGHT

Cael Cryer completed 11 of 13 passes for 87 yards, one touchdown and one interception. William Davis went 3-for-6 for 65 yards and a touchdown. Together, they finished 14-for-19 for 152 yards and two passing scores.

Jaron Hill caught five passes for 77 yards and both receiving touchdowns. Johnny Robinson added six receptions for 41 yards, Ricky Jaramillo had two for 14, and Brae’onn Mathews caught one for 20. Jahsiah Sio supplied the rushing touchdown and led the ground attack with 62 yards on 14 carries. The posted offensive totals were 152 passing yards and 70 rushing yards.

THE DEFENSE MADE ITS OWN CASE

The Vikings’ box score credits the defense with 63 tackles, nine tackles for loss and five sacks. Oscar De La Torre produced four tackles, three tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks, with three quarterback hurries. Jaramillo paired his offensive work with seven tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks.

Eugene Hasson led Moreno Valley with nine tackles. Cashawn Neal and Devon Border each had eight; Neal added two tackles for loss, half a sack and a forced fumble. Erick Romero recorded six tackles. Noah Russell posted five tackles, a pass defended and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. The recognition belongs across that group, because the result required contributions across the defense.

Jovany Espinoza supplied a clean kicking line: four successful extra points and a 32-yard field goal, good for seven points. Mathews added 53 yards on three kickoff returns.

A CHANCE TO BUILD

The Vikings’ next game is at home against JW North on Friday, October 16, at 7 p.m. The current season totals list Sio at 119.7 rushing yards per reported game, Davis with nine passing touchdowns and De La Torre with five sacks. Friday’s victory gives those numbers a result to build around.

REPORTING NOTE: Statistics reflect the current published box score and season tables. The source’s game Points table lists an inconsistent team total of seven; VL247 uses the verified 31-point final and separately reported scoring plays rather than that erroneous aggregate.
