Moreno Valley’s September 25 matchup with Rancho Verde ended in a 21–3 loss, moving the Vikings to 3–2. The result was difficult, but several defenders produced performances worth recognizing in a game that asked a great deal of the unit.
Chanell Siaosi led the Vikings with 14 tackles and forced a fumble. Cashawn Neal added 10 tackles, including two for loss, and Willie Logotala recorded nine. Those individual totals show how actively the group worked against a Rancho Verde offense built around the run.
On offense, Cael Cryer threw for 92 yards. Brae’onn Mathews supplied 42 receiving yards and another 33 on kick returns. Jahsiah Sio added 38 rushing yards, while Darius Allen and Calvin Payne contributed 25 and 15 receiving yards, respectively, in the published box score.
Jovany Espinoza provided Moreno Valley’s points with a 36-yard field goal. The Vikings finished with 125 offensive yards, underscoring the challenge posed by the Mustangs’ defense and the area that needed improvement after the game.
Siaosi’s 14 tackles, Neal’s plays behind the line and Logotala’s involvement gave Moreno Valley concrete defensive contributions to recognize. With five games played, the Vikings still carried a winning record and a clear opportunity to build on those efforts.
